Winter Shelter Beds Now Available in Portland

As part of a coordinated effort to provide relief during the colder months, The Salvation Army is opening new shelter beds in Portland to help unsheltered individuals find a safe and warm place to rest.

Starting Tuesday, January 7, The Salvation Army will operate 200 overnight shelter beds across two locations for an initial period of 90 days. This effort aligns with the winter shelter plan announced by Multnomah County and the City of Portland.

Shelter Locations and Details:

The Salvation Army Female Emergency Shelter (SAFES)
Address: 30 SW 2nd Ave., Portland, OR
Capacity: 52 beds
Guests identifying as female are welcome at this location.

The Salvation Army Moore Street Corps & Community Center
Address: 5335 N. Williams Ave., Portland, OR
Capacity: 148 beds
Open to individuals of all genders.

Hours of Operation:

Shelters will be open overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.

In the event of a severe weather emergency, both locations will pivot to 24-hour operation.

Services Provided:
Guests will have access to:

Light food

Sleeping mats

Basic hygiene supplies

Warm and safe spaces to rest

The Salvation Army is committed to ensuring everyone who comes to the shelters is welcomed and offered the support they need to move toward stability and hope.
